What’s so great about going to a café? The rich aroma of a freshly-brewed cup o’ Joe wafting into your face as you swing the door open? Best Drip Coffee Makers
1. Cuisinart DCC-3400
We’re not sure of the exact science behind it, but don’t you find that coffee just tastes better when it’s practically scalding the inside of your mouth? That’s why it’s sad that many coffeemakers don’t keep coffee hot for long. However, that’s all changed with the Cuisinart DCC-3400 and their technology to ensure hotter coffee without giving up flavor or quality.
A common misconception with drip coffeemakers is that they’re a kind of one-size-fits-all. We all know that our tastes vary greatly, and so should our machines. Thanks to the brew strength control feature, you can choose from a regular or bold flavor, depending on what your preferences are.
With 24-hour programmability, you could choose wake up to the smell of your java brewing. How’s that for an alarm clock? If you’re running late, we know you’ll take advantage of the “brew pause” feature, which lets you delight in a cup of coffee before the brewing cycle has even finished. Although amazing coffee is well worth having an eyesore in the kitchen, this maker is quite attractive, coming in either Stainless Steel, Black Stainless Steel, White, or Copper.
2. OXO BREW 9 Cup Coffee Maker
If you love the pour-over method, there’s now an easier way to do it. The OXO BREW 9 Cup Coffee Maker replicates the method, giving you anywhere from 2-9 cups of SCAA-certified “perfect” coffee. As taste is a bit objective, we can’t say it’s perfect in everyone’s eyes, but dang, did it taste good!
There’s no need to wait around pressing buttons like you’re flying a plane to operate this machine. With just the single press of a button, your delicious motor oil will be on its way. The aesthetic design will look great in just about any kitchen or office, complete with a user-friendly LED display allowing you to easily change settings to your liking. Just like the Cuisinart, it features a timer and a single-cup function, keeping your coffee hotter, longer, with its double-walled thermal carafe.
While it’s no-doubt one of our favorites, we did notice it took up quite a bit of counter real estate, and it wasn’t the fastest machine out there. However, if you are in a hurry, simply take advantage of that single-cup feature and make a run for it!
3. Bonavita BV1900TS 8-Cup One-Touch Coffee Maker
Serving up premium coffee brewing for just a fraction of the price of competitor products, the Bonavita BV1900TS is one of our favorite drip machines out there. While usually this level of coffee comes from only pricey gadgets, this model costs around $100 less than rivals while remaining much more compact and easy to clean.
If you’re not into overly techy machinery, then you’ll enjoy the one-touch operation, as well as the short brew time (6 minutes or less for a full pot). Offering unique qualities that mirror the artisan pour-over brewing method, you’ll enjoy quality coffee in a much quicker, convenient way by pausing water flow to give coffee time to properly bloom.
The upgraded shower head evenly covers grounds, which will give you uniform flavor extraction so you can enjoy the beans the way they’re meant to be. The 1500-watt heater makes sure to keep brewing temperature at 198-205 degrees Fahrenheit, which is considered the ideal temperature for drinking coffee. The straightforward, industrial design is visually attractive, though not “stunning” by any means. Overall, it’s one of the leaders of the pack in the consumer coffeemaker world.
4. Mr. Coffee Optimal Brew
If you want to be able to whip up a great cup of coffee on a budget, then check out the Mr. Coffee Optimal Brew. While it doesn’t make the strongest cup out there, if you have an addiction, it won’t leave you high and dry. In fact, with 10-cup batches, we hope you’re not drinking as much as it’s capable of!
More and more often, it seems as if everything we have is controlled by our phones. Why not your coffeemaker? With Belkin’s WeMo-connected smart device platform, you can download the app on your smartphone and control it from anywhere in your home! The fully customizable 7-day programmable schedule will have your coffee ready for you at the best time possible, too. With that being said, if you’re leaning more on the side of tech aficionado rather than coffee connoisseur, this may just be the device for you.
The slim, narrow design makes it great if you have limited counter/desk space, but don’t count on it turning any heads. It’s not unattractive, but it’s quite average in contrast to what else is out there.
5. Hamilton Beach Brew Station Summit 12-Cup Dispensing Drip Coffeemaker
Looking for the best bang for your buck? If you want to save some serious cash while still being able to relish in a savory cup of caffeinated sepia, then nothing compares to Hamilton Beach’s Brew Station Summit. With the black plastic finish, we won’t pretend that you wouldn’t walk right by it in a normal setting. However, we’re talking about coffee here, right?
Brewing up to 12 cups at once, if you’re trying to cram for a test or happen to have a group of friends/family over this will cover all your bases. While it works like your normal drip coffeemaker, it does hold coffee in an internal tank, no carafe necessary. Simply press the bar to dispense a single cup of coffee at a time. Think of it as a cute little plastic barista hanging out on your countertop to make sure you’re all stocked up.
6. Mr. Coffee BVMC-PSTX95 10-Cup Optimal Brew
We’re back again with another Optimal Brew from Mr. Coffee. This time we have the crowd favorite: the BVMC-PSTX95 10-Cup. This model was designed to bring to life the fullest, most rich flavor possible. With excellent water filtration built in, chlorine is reduced 97% which makes for a more pure profile, while the special cleaning cycle will always keep your brew tasting fresh.
Like a couple others on our list, the Pause’n serve feature is excellent if you can’t wait for that entire pot to brew, and want to enjoy a cup in the midst of it. Brewing up to 20% faster than most comparative products, we’re sure that probably won’t be an issue, though. Once it’s ready, the stainless steel carafe will ensure it stays at its optimal temperature until you’re ready to drink it. This also makes it ideal for serving guests with ease. Quiet operation will make sure you go unbothered while waiting for the delicious nectar to come to fruition!
7. Black & Decker 12-Cup Thermal Coffeemaker CM2035B
Black and Decker are known for making sturdy, reliable home appliances, and their 12-Cup CM2035B Thermal Coffeemaker is exemplary of that. The simple design is a bit average, visually speaking, with it’s stainless steel/black body and carafe. However, it’s well-built and will serve you for quite possibly years and years to come. While it’s not as inexpensive as the Hamilton Beach (#6), it’s still very affordable for what it offers. Coming with a 2-year warranty, know that you’ll be covered for a good while.
As a practical product, you can select how many cups you’d like made, from 1, all the way to 12. If you’re trying to head out and are on a time restraint, you can simply select the “Sneak-a-Cup” button where it will let you pour whatever’s been made while pausing brewing until you place the carafe back on the plate.
Depending on the coffee you use, the machine can surprisingly produce a quite impressive cup. We’d like to think this is due to their Evenstream Showerhead technology which wets the coffee evenly to extract flavor better.
8. Mr. Coffee BVMC-SJX33GT-AM 12-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker
For a pretty average price, this drip coffeemaker covers everything you need to make yourself a splendid cup of bean juice. This machine is great if you’re a beginner to using coffeemakers, or just prefer a more straightforward operation.
Just like with the Black and Decker, you’ll get excellent water filtration to keep coffee tasting fresh, and a Pause-n-Serve feature so you can revel in a cup while the rest of the pot is still brewing. That’s the kind of multitasking we should focus on! For versatile brewing you get to choose from either a glass carafe or thermal carafe, great for keeping coffee hot and for serving/entertaining guests. The 2-hour auto shut-off will keep it perfectly hot for up to 2 hours, then shut off, because no one wants to drink coffee sitting for longer than that.
All in all, if you want an affordable, efficient, and simple machine perfect for entertaining groups of people, this is one to check out.
9. Technivorm Moccamaster 79112 KBT Coffee Brewer
What’s essentially known as the Rolls Royce of drip coffeemakers, the Technivorm Moccamaster delivers masterful brews in style. Expect supreme cups of coffee regularly, and if you’re really dedicated, you can extract some perfect pots of up to 10 ups at a time.
Hand-built with metal housing and BPA/BPS/BPF/Phthalate-free plastics, this beauty is made to last. As it’s backed by a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty, we’d say that’s indicative of the quality you’re receiving with this model. While you’ll have to pay a pretty price, if you can swing it, it’s well worth it.
While it’s quite possibly the most beautiful brewer we’ve seen, it’s so much more than looks. The surprisingly quick brewing process consisted of a show of bubbles dancing around the clear housing, resulting in an exquisite, smooth coffee that really seemed to tone down any overly-bitter or acidy notes. Expect complex and velvet liquid that can rival even the most expensive machines out there. This is largely due to the ideal water saturation time which maximizes flavor and aroma, along with the manual adjust brew basket to let you steep coffee as long as you want.
10. Hamilton Beach 49980A Coffee Maker Single Serve
We had to add on another Hamilton Beach product, the 49980A, due to how compact, well-priced, and convenient it was. Featuring a versatile two-way brewing option with two separate water tanks, you have one made for single servings, and another for up to 12 cups at a time. This also works to eliminate wasting any coffee.
Another feature that those who always seem to change their mind will like, is that you can use either coffee grounds or pods. In today’s world, pods are growing more and more popular, so if you don’t like being limited you’ll like this model. The machine can also be custom programmed 24 hours so you can have a pot (or single cup!) waiting for you when you wake up or get home from work. It will also auto shut-off after two hours if you’re in a hurry and run out without turning it off.
While in comparison with some others on our guide, the taste of the resulting brew was rather average, but never poor. It was also not the easiest to clean, but for the convenience and affordable price tag, we’d say it’s just fine.
After reading this, we’re sure you’re ready for a nice cup yourself, so which one of these models will be taking up residency in your kitchen? We hope that our guide has helped you find the best drip coffee maker for you and your needs. Thanks for tuning in, and we’ll see you again soon!
